WE SUPPORT – StopRhinoPoaching.com

We, Lion Roar Safaris (Pty) Ltd choose to support the StopRhinoPoaching project, as rhino poaching is a huge problem that directly affects the species in whole, the tourism sector, the safari industries and other effects in nature that will come into play if rhinos are finally taken out of the equation.

StopRhinoPoaching is number one on our list of things we support, as rhino poaching happens right on our doorstep in our wonderful Kruger National Park. It is also important that one should know that poaching, more specifically rhino poaching stretches far beyond just the Kruger National Park and that poaching has a huge global effect on the vast number of declining species, of all sorts.

Since rhinos play such an important role within our safari industry, and us literally being in the field/bush in Kruger National Park on a regular basis, you can see and feel the impact that poaching is having on the declining number of rhinos in the Park.

There is a constant battle being fought daily to help save the rhinos from becoming extinct.

The rhino poaching problem is real and very dangerous, powered by greedy, power & money hungry individuals that are soulless and only think about their own wealth and needs.

When you think about rhinos, there are a few questions that come to mind:

  • What would Kruger National Park be without any Rhinos?

  • What would Africa or the World for that matter be without Rhinos?

  • Would our grandchildren get to see rhinos in their lifetime?

  • What would the Big Five animals be without the magnificent rhino if they have gone extinct?

  • Will Rhinos become a thing of the past, like the dinosaurs?

The thing that concerns me the most is the realness of it all! Regardless of what could be, I still believe that we can nip this global problem in the butt, but only if we stand together and help support the StopRhinoPoaching foundation.

Be the voice to the voiceless and help protect our species by donating to this wonderful cause known as StopRhinoPoaching.com

The question on everyone’s lips: Why are Rhinos killed?

Rhinos are brutally killed for their horns. Yes! Both species of Rhino (Black and White Rhino) have horns. One horn positioned near the forehead (a smaller sized horn) and a second horn, positioned slightly above the nose of Rhino (largest horn of the two). These horns are made of keratin, the same substance as fingernails, toenails, and hair, and just as fingernails, toenails and hair, it grows continuously and it does not have a bone core.

The truth about Rhino horn needs to be known and people need to be educated about the fact that Rhino horn has no medicinal quality, possess no superstitious power, and does not aid to any wealth or power whatsoever.

The major demand for rhino horn is in Asia, where it is used to make ornamental carvings and traditional medicine. Truly, rhino horn is as effective as clipping your finger and toenails, grinding them and sniffing them. It is an old women’s tail and a total myth.

Share this news far and wide, educate people, report usage, report trade and kill the demand for Rhino Horn once and for all. We can end the madness. You can make a difference!

Are Rhinos an endangered species?

Absolutely! The demand for Rhino Horns drives people to greed, power, wealth and money and it will ultimately lead to the extinction of the species. Rhinos are killed daily by poachers to meet the demand.
